M
Which ending, and when
Endings go after the plain form. After a noun or a な-adjective, add だ before よ and ね, but not before かな.
| Ending | Use it to | Example |
|---|
- よ tells, ね shares. よ gives news the other person doesn't have. ね assumes they feel the same or already know.
- Too much よ sounds pushy. A sharp can sound like a telling-off. Say it gently, or add ね.
- かな is thinking aloud. It isn't really a question, but people often answer it. It's a soft way to ask.
- You'll also hear でしょ. is like よね but stronger: "I told you, didn't I?"
