25 words for the home's workings
Each card shows the word, the form used, and a sentence you'd say to family or to the repair company. Several reuse words from Everyday Japanese 1 and 2, and from Lessons 4–6.

What's wrong, and who to call
Most problems need one of these phrases. Put the broken thing first, with が.
| Problem | Japanese | Example |
|---|
- If you smell gas, open the windows, don't touch any switches, and call the gas company.
- Renting? Call the first. Their number is usually on your contract or by the entrance.
- You'll hear polite Japanese. Repair staff use polite forms from Everyday Japanese 6, like ("I'll come round").
