Changes and delays
When trains run late, the announcements get long and very polite. This lesson covers changing trains, delays and the key words in announcements, so you can tell whether to wait or find another way. Announcements use ~ております, a polite ~ています. Tap to hear any line. The bar at the bottom plays a hands-free drill for walking.

- 〜ております = 〜ています. just means "it's running late".
- Get a delay slip. After a delay, staff hand out at the gates for work or school. Most rail companies also post them online.
- Through trains. means the train carries on onto another line, so it may be going somewhere you've never heard of.
