Buses
Buses work differently from town to town: on some you get on at the front and pay first, on others you get on at the back and pay when you get off. This lesson covers both, plus the stop button and what the driver and the recorded voice say. Tap to hear any line. The bar at the bottom plays a hands-free drill for walking.

25 bus words
Each card shows a word, the form used and a sentence you'd say or hear on a bus. Cards marked "heard" are the driver or the recorded voice. Nine reuse words from earlier lessons.

Two kinds of bus
Flat-fare buses charge the same for any ride. Zone-fare buses charge by distance. The sign on the door tells you which door to use.

- Press the button early. Press it as soon as you hear your stop: . If nobody presses and nobody is waiting, the bus doesn't stop.
- Change on board. The fare box changes coins and notes. A usually won't work.
- Which door? Look for (way in) and (way out) on the doors.
