The driving range and lessons
Most golfers in Japan practise far more at the range than on the course, often at ranges several floors high with nets in the middle of town. This lesson covers the range, lessons, and talking about getting better. Tap to hear any line. The bar at the bottom plays a hands-free drill for walking.

- Ranges in town. City ranges often have several floors of bays and tall nets. You buy balls with a prepaid card, and many tee them up for you automatically.
- Fat and thin. ダフる (hitting the ground first) and トップ (hitting the top of the ball) are the words everyone uses for bad shots.
- Your first round. Golfers call it コースデビュー. Most people spend months at the range before it.
