Izakaya and paying
Izakaya are relaxed and noisy, and ordering is quick and casual. This lesson covers drinks, all-you-can-drink deals, sharing dishes, and paying at the end, including splitting the bill. Tap to hear any line. The bar at the bottom plays a hands-free drill for walking.

Paying at the end
What to say at the table and the till, and what staff say near closing time.
| Say it | Means | When |
|---|
- Order in bursts. People usually order drinks first with とりあえず, then food a few dishes at a time.
- The table snack. is a small dish you didn't order. It's a cover charge, so it will be on the bill.
- Paying. Many places want you to pay at the till by the door. Splitting by card can be hard, so groups often pay together and settle up in cash.
